ANTIAGING is a NAME poem. Poetry that tells about the word. It uses the letters of the word for the first letter of each line.

BOOMER is a CINQUAIN. Poetry with five lines. Line 1 has one word (the title). Line 2 has two words that describe the title. Line 3 has three words that tell the action. Line 4 has four words that express the feeling, and line 5 has one word which repeats the title or giving another word related to it.

Words are fun to play with. Writing poetry is a great activity to keep your mind stimulated and active. Writing is a way to clarify your thinking and keep your memory sharp. I’m certainly not a great poet but I do enjoy the challenge of writing and expressing my thoughts in a new and different mode. It is a way to stretch my imagination and boost my brain power as I grow older. Mental exercise like writing poetry, learning new things or developing your creativity, may strengthen your brain cells and preserve your mental functions. Do something active, like writing, that you enjoy. It will lower your stress and get your brain running smoothly. You may find that you worry less, remember more and begin to think better. Regular use of the brain, like physical exercise, has been shown to build neurons in the brain and stop the decline of mental function that often comes with old age. Have some fun and try a cinquain or name poem of your own. Try it you’ll like it!
